The STOP Program at CAMH has two goals:

  1. Increase access to NRT for individuals who smoke and wish to quit.
  2. Increase capacity of health practitioners to provide evidence-based smoking cessation treatment (including counselling and NRT).

Eligibility Criteria

Participants must meet the following eligibility criteria to enroll in the program:

  • Must smoke cigarettes
    • Individuals who use both cigarettes and other tobacco product(s) can still enroll, but someone who uses other tobacco products ONLY (e.g.: cigars, cigarillos, chew, pipe, hooka or shisha) is not eligible.
  • Must be registered/rostered to your organization
    • If there is a central database which stores all patient data, such as the electronic medical record, the patient record needs to exist there.
  • Must be a resident of Ontario

Once participants are enrolled in the program, they may be able to receive up to 26 weeks of NRT at no cost within a 12 month period. No more than 4 weeks of NRT should be dispensed at each visit.
