Program Overview
The STOP Program at CAMH has two goals:
- Increase access to NRT for individuals who smoke and wish to quit.
- Increase capacity of health practitioners to provide evidence-based smoking cessation treatment (including counselling and NRT).
Eligibility Criteria
Participants must meet the following eligibility criteria to enroll in the program:
- Must smoke cigarettes
- Individuals who use both cigarettes and other tobacco product(s) can still enroll, but someone who uses other tobacco products ONLY (e.g.: cigars, cigarillos, chew, pipe, hooka or shisha) is not eligible.
- Must be registered/rostered to your organization
- If there is a central database which stores all patient data, such as the electronic medical record, the patient record needs to exist there.
- Must be a resident of Ontario
Once participants are enrolled in the program, they may be able to receive up to 26 weeks
of NRT at no cost within a 12 month period. No more than 4 weeks of NRT should be dispensed at each visit.
